Feb. 10, 1945. From Bill to his wife. Letter 4 of 6.

In this short heartfelt note, Bill shares updates from CA naval base life where the beer is close, the weekends are short, and his heart is firmly back home where his wife is waiting. Letter 4 of 6 in this series.

Hi honey —

Well another day — Got your letter with Rowland’s address. Didn’t think he’d remember to write but guess he’s on the ball. Looks like he got sub school, judging from his R.D. address.

Must have been day dreaming when I said I only work 5 days a week. We’re on 6, but even so, it gives us a good weekend. Haven’t been off the base more than three times since we got here. Don’t need to because we have everything right across the street. Movies, soda fountain, and beer joint. Besides everything costs like hell out here when you go to town.

Sorry to hear your Pop has been sick. There’s nothing I’d like better than to be home with you + your Pop. The time will come soon. I’ll be up there. Don’t worry about it.

Well haven’t heard anything about moving or staying here so I can’t give you any information on coming out for now.

Well enough for tonight. Take it easy and don’t worry.

Remember I love you and miss you.

Love + Kisses,

Bill
