Sept 1929. From Uncle Arthur to Bessie
The summer was ending, the stock market was weeks away from its catastrophic crash, and Uncle Arthur was preparing to leave for Florida but not before one final Sunday visit to the cemetery.

East Boston, Sept 1929
Dear Bessie,
Was very glad to receive your Sunday’s letter and to know that you are all well. Should dearly loved to have seen the flowers. I appreciate and feel very grateful for the kind remembrances of the relatives and friends of my beloved wife, who has gone to her God and Maker to return no more.
If convenient to you, won’t you come to Mystic, Saturday afternoon and remain over Sunday leaving Monday for Florida via NY. If you have company, we’ll go to the hotel. Would like to have you and John go to the cemetery with me Sunday and take some flowers. And John will you arrange for a carriage and the flowers?
I can’t say what time I’ll arrive Saturday but think there is a train leaving here about one o’clock, arriving in Mystic about 4:30 PM. Will get a time table tomorrow and drop you a postal.
Have mailed Clara Maples a Worcester paper and will bring another to you and your mother.
With love to all, from Uncle Arthur
