No date. From Herman to Madelyn

Dearest Madelyn,
I’m very happy to know that I have “taken your breath away for a million times” – I’m glad too to know that you like the gift I sent you – but how did you know it was from me? There wasn’t a card in it or any identification who had sent it. I would have placed a card in it but the package was already made up when I sent for it Sat. & I didn’t want to disturb it.
Incidentally don’t be peeved because I haven’t sent the picture I promised you – I surely am going to take care of that matter very soon – you see it will be a surprise for you – my oh my I just shudder when I think how angry your tone was in your last letter. I’ll bet you have quite a temper when you let it go!
Rita hasn’t had time to call me yet it seems – she hasn’t called me up until now. Perhaps she will have time later on – perhaps not. Although I cannot be with you Sunday, I can do the next best thing & that is to call you up – will you expect to hear the phone ring sometime between 7 & 7:30 pm Sunday nite?
Don’t keep the valise until your honeymoon but use them now so that they will be broken in just a bit for your honeymoon – but you might need a larger trunk for that big event that you have at present – how would you like to go to China for your wedding trip?
Goodbye darling & have a nice birthday – I’ll be talking to you Sunday nite – loads of love
Herman
